I find the docs about all the 875 billion things you can do with a Pi GPIO pin just too much. Easier to start with a project you want to complete. Learn what is needed by finding 2 or 3 or 5 online how to examples than compare them. Do they differ in GPIO use?
My sticking point was trying to use a two wire connection over more than a few meters. I plowed into some example GPIO examples using LEDs and things. Easy. Controlling anything on the same bench. Easy.![:D]( "Very Happy")
